Parking is available one block south of the park at the Omni Garage / Hilton Hotel (1601 Biscayne Blvd. Miami, FL 33132). The Omni garage is offering a flat rate fee of $15 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Athlete Check-In

Mack Cycle Escape to Miami Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. You must be a current USAT member to participate or you will be required to purchase a one-day license ($12). You must furnish proof of current USAT membership and you must also present a photo I.D.

Relay Teams

All relay team members must be present, at the same time, to pick up your packet. Substitution of a relay team member will not be permitted beyond September 3, 2015.

Course Time Limits

Athletes who cannot complete the disciplines within the time constraints will not be allowed to continue in the race. The following timelines will be strictly enforced during the race.

Olympic Distance (presented by Cytomax and Muscle Milk)

Course Markers, Signage, Safety

The swim, bike and run courses will be marked with different types of signage/markers/cones to identify turns, hazards, aid stations and other items.

Island/ Swim Course

Waves are based on age and gender.
Buoys: Keep buoys on your left shoulder; observe current to make sure you stay on course
Lifeguards and support: Lifeguards and support vessels will line the course if assistance is needed please visibly raise your hand if you need assistance

Bike Course

Athletes will have access to one lane and the shoulder along the Causeway.
Double orange arch (painted on ground): Denote hazards such as potholes, cracks and areas of concern
Orange/black course route barricades: Denote direction for the race
Yellow informational signage: Denote information throughout the race
Support: SAG vehicle will be available to pick up athletes and bikes that may not be able to continue throughout the race
*It is the responsibility of the participant to fix flat tires and other mechanical issues with their bikes during the event.

Water bottle exchange (presented by Cytomax) – OLYMPIC ONLY:
Optional: Bikers will have the option to swap for a fresh water bottle at the beginning of lap 2
NOTE: Old water bottles will NOT be returned if dropped at the water bottle exchange

Run Course

Water Stations: Water stations will be located at the base of the MacArthur Causeway, Jungle Island and at the turnaround near Star Island. The first two water stations are available on the return as well.

Transition Area Conduct

For safety reasons, you will not be permitted to ride your bike in or out of the transition area. You must walk or run exiting transition until you reach the “mount line” on the road. When returning into transition, you must get off your bicycle when you reach the “dismount line” on the road and walk or run. Please watch out for the other athletes as you move through transition and follow the instructions of race officials and volunteers.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Unsportsmanlike conduct or the verbal abuse of any race official or volunteer during the race or at any time during the event weekend will result in your immediate disqualification.

Race Morning


Race Morning Checklist


Parking is available one block south of the park at the Omni Garage / Hilton Hotel (1601 Biscayne Blvd. Miami, FL 33132). The Omni garage is offering a flat rate fee of $15 on Sunday. In order to receive these discounts you must show your race number or wristband. Re-entry will not be allowed and charge will occur for each ticket pulled. Access to the garage will be available from Biscayne Blvd., N. Bayshore Dr., or NE 17th Terr. ( Escape to Miami Triathlon does not manage nor profit from this garage).

Additional parking will be available within walking distance of the park at the Marriott Hotel (1633 N. Bayshore Dr.) or at the Venetia Condo (555 NE 15th St., valet only). Standard parking rates apply. Meters are also available. Please park in marked lots and spaces only. Parking at bagged meters is prohibited and violators will be towed.

Timing and Results

Official race results receipts will be available at the results tent on race day. Please report any discrepancy to a race official prior to the start of the awards presentation. Athletes who do not wear the timing chip during the entire event will not be scored. Please note that the clock at finish line reflects the start time of the first swim wave.

Medical Care

Baptist Health South Florida will provide comprehensive medical care for all participants during the event. The biggest risk to athletes during the race is the potential of heat-related injuries associated with inadequate hydration prior to and during the event. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids throughout race weekend.


If you are a top three finisher and cannot attend the awards presentation, we will mail you your award. Please visit us at the registration tent to complete a form and make a $5 payment to have your medal shipped to you. Race results will be posted online immediately following the event. Please email if you were unable to pick up your award and did not fill out an awards form on race day to have you medal shipped.

Race Day Rules and Regulations

Bike Check

All athletes must check their OWN bikes on Saturday, September 19 at Margaret Pace Park from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Once your bike is checked YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO REMOVE YOUR BIKE OUT OF TRANSITION FOR ANY REASON. The only time your bike will be removed is during the bike portion of the event. Bikes will ONLY be reclaimed after the last cyclist has completed the bike course and an announcement has been made. You must still have your bracelet on in order to pick up your bike.
*These bike precautions are to protect your bike from being stolen.
**It is mandatory that all athletes go to Margaret Pace Park for bike check on Saturday, September 19  from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., even if you have preciously picked up your packet.

Timing Chips

Timing chips will be distributed on Saturday, September 19 during bike check-in. YOU MUST BRING YOUR CHIP ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 IN ORDER TO COMPETE. The chip must be affixed to either ankle prior to the swim start and must be worn during the entire event. Relay team members must pass the chip to their teammate after completing their segment of the race. If your chip falls off during the race, please notify the timers at the finish line as you finish.
*All chips must be returned to volunteers!
** All missing chips/Velcro will result in a $30 fee.

Swim Cap

The swim cap placed in your race packet must be worn during the swim. Do not trade your swim cap with another athlete as the caps are color-coded to assist race management in organizing you at the swim start.


The use of wetsuits during the swim will be allowed if the water temperature on race morning is 78.0 degrees or less. If the water temperature exceeds 78.0 degrees but is less than 84.0 degrees, an athlete may wear a wetsuit but will be ineligible for awards and USAT national ranking points. Speed suits will be allowed.

Race Numbers

The adhesive bicycle frame number must be attached to your bike with the race number clearly visible from both sides of the bike. Do not affix the number to your bike frame until after you’re prepared to enter transition on Saturday. Lost bike numbers cannot be replaced! The small adhesive helmet number must be worn on the front of your bike helmet and the run number must be displayed during the run segment on the front of your body. Pin your number to your shirt, swimsuit or race belt with the four safety pins provided in your race packet.

Body Markings

You will find a set of body marking tattoos in your packet. All participants must put provided tattoos on by Sunday, September 20 before entering transition. THERE WILL BE NO BODY MARKING ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 PRIOR TO THE START OF THE RACE. If you are a Clydesdale, Athena or part of a relay team you will receive an additional tattoo for your back right calf. In order to receive an age tattoo you will need to register by September 3, 2015. Please wear shorts if age needs to be marked on Saturday, September 19. Please review the following body marking instructions:

E2M Body Markings

  1. Make sure skin is clean.
  2. Remove the protective top sheet from the race number tattoos. Place the ink side (sticky side) to skin, making sure it is right side up on the locations demonstrated on the image to the left.
  3. Hold a very wet, folded paper towel over the paper backer of the tattoo for a full 30 seconds. Make sure it gets wet all the way through. Take your time!
  4. Peel the paper backer off the skin, leaving race number on your skin.
  5. Follow steps 1-4 for other race number locations, age, logo and category tattoos as necessary.

To Remove:
Soak the Tritats in baby oil, rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover for 30 seconds, then wipe away.


All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike corral in transition bags with the allowed dimensions: 18 x 12.5 x 9 inches. Bags will no longer be allowed along the fence and will be checked upon entrance to transition. The front wheel of the bicycle must be down on the side of the assigned space. All participants must return their bicycles to an upright position in their designated bicycle corral. No person shall interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant. All bar ends must be solidly plugged, to lessen the possibility of injury; they will be available for purchase at the Mack Cycle tent. No participant shall bring ANY glass containers into the transition area.
